CRS changes on November 3, 2026
IRCC announced a new way of counting Canadian work experience and job offers in the CRS from November 3, 2026. This is what changes, based on IRCC’s page “2026 changes to points for Canadian work experience and job offers”.
The new Labour Market Integration factor
It replaces the Canadian work experience line of the core factors. You get the higher of two options:
| Option | With spouse | Without spouse |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian work experience: work-length points + high-wage points | 140 (70 + 70) | 150 (80 + 70) |
| Qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation | 100 | 100 |
High-wage points (at least 12 months of qualifying Canadian experience)
| Occupations | Experience | Job offer |
|---|---|---|
| Median wage at least 2 × the average median wage | 70 | 100 |
| At least 1.5 × | 40 | 70 |
| At least 1.3 × | 20 | 50 |
| Other occupation | 0 | 0 |
What does not change
- Work-length points for Canadian experience (40 for 1 year to 80 for 5 years, without a spouse).
- Skill transferability, which keeps using the current Canadian experience length.
- Age, education, languages, spouse factors and additional points (including up to 50 points for French).
Job offers
An LMIA is no longer required for a job offer to count, and having one gives no extra points. A job offer can still help with program eligibility even when it gives no CRS points.

Frequently asked questions
When do the new CRS rules start?
November 3, 2026, according to IRCC. The system recalculates existing profiles, which can take up to two weeks, and invitation rounds are paused meanwhile.
Do job offers give CRS points again?
Yes, if the job is in an eligible high-wage occupation: 100 points (median wage at least twice the average), 70 (1.5 times) or 50 (1.3 times). Other job offers give no CRS points.
Can I combine Canadian experience and a job offer?
No. IRCC keeps the higher of the two options: Canadian experience points (length plus high-wage points) or job offer points.
